I walk upon the shore of my heart
Following along the footsteps that you left imprinted in the sand
Further and further they go
Memories, smiles and happy times traced into the sand
Leaving not one spot of sand missed.

Your voice sounds like the whispers of the sea breeze
As the waves rise and descend onto the sand
Each gasp of sea air I take burns through me inside and out
Leaving my body paralyzed
Reminders of you, a wind chime in the distance
Always there
No steps forward only steps back

Open sand appears in the distance
A new start, a new opportunity just out of reaching distance
Something to fill the emptiness
But it’s a trickery of the sun
A mirage of your doing
And the loneliness continues
As my life goes down with the sun
And my life disappears over the horizon
