My Life Moves Forward Still Poem by Linda Barnes

My Life Moves Forward Still

My mind wonders back
To that cold November night
As we are introduced
Both shy and aloof

Days and years would pass
Both marrying men we had met
Not knowing how it would end
We remained best of friends

As our lives intertwined
More years would fly by
Going out and having fun
Oblivious to what would come

So much laughter we shared
Acting like young girls ensnared
Back to a time we both felt
Our prior souls had met

How I miss our time together
Sharing our love for one another
Such mountains we had scaled
To a valley where you lay

As my mind goes back in time
You come back to share your life
Only to realize you're not here
As my life moves forward still
