My Light Poem by Laura Oldenkamp

My Light

I was a prisioner,
you set me free.
I had to always be with you,
you made me feel alive
like the fineness of snow
fallling on the face.
I knew everything about you,
you nothing about myself.
As you had no idea either,
about the scars, the addictions,
the obsessions.
It was you who lit this
flame under me.
However, it is now out,
all I can see is gray.
The stars, the moon and the sun
have all abandoned me.
You took away my light,
as I was standing in yours.
