My Magic. Poem by Princess Jemmy

My Magic.

Today as i entered the bus,
A spell caught my eye
But i could not understand its fate
until the end of my journey.

My heart seemed to smile at an new issue at hand,
But my brain could not comprehend, .
'No, it can't be true'!
I had not intended to love you
For i had wrought hard
To extirpate the germs of love from my soul.
But at the first view of you,
They spontaneously revived, green and strong.

As we chat,
You surveyed me with eyes
That revealed a heart full and eager to overflow,
A precious yet poignant pleasure full of pure gold

Your olive face, deep eyes and firm features,
Grim mouth and all energy,
Full of interest and affluence,
Your intelligent wit-
Took my feelings from my own power
and fettered them into yours.

When you smiled,
Your features softened
and your eyes grew brilliant and gentle,
Their ray both searching and sweet.

You belonged to me,
I could feel it from a million miles
Because i did understand the language of your countenance.
Though rank and wealth may server us widely,
I had and have something
In my brain and heart,
In my blood and nerves
That assimilates me to you!
