My Monster Poem by Joan Hart

My Monster

Rating: 5.0

I push you away
Keeping you at an arm’s length
I try to convince myself
That you mean nothing to me,
That I even possess
Hatred for you.
But the truth lies beneath
In the dark
A perilous monster
Bearing its teeth
And softly whispering:
“You lie.”
