My Mother's Visit Poem by LeeAnn Azzopardi

My Mother's Visit

Rating: 5.0

Last night, my mum was standing at the door
At first, I didn't recongise her; then smiled when I did
I invited her to sleep next to me
Like the days after my Dad died
I told her she could pee on the side she did in those days
The stain on the mattress from that time, remains
I tried to get her to speak
But all she did was stare
Until she faded into the night
I miss her, but all I could do is smile
For I know she's happy where she is
And that I had to laugh

Poignant and bittersweet, I can't imagine the pain of what you've had to face. Your mother's success is the great daughter she raised. I hope you the best LeeAnn. Happy mothers day!
