My Own Friend Poem by Salihu Mahe

My Own Friend

Rating: 5.0

Solely lonely only
The need to sing a song
Lacking the voice to sing
Expressing my sorrow with a poem
A poem to be read in melody
To echo my inner melancholy
A lonely soul resonates

Ocean waves of sadness
Devoid of hints of happiness
Alone in my lonely Islands
By myself playing solitaire
Of course my throat is sore
A result of this endless bore
A lonely soul resonates

Crack jokes up in my head
Wish there is someone dear to share
These voices reverberates in my head
Words only I hear
'It would be nice to meet you'
'If only they know this you'
A lonely soul resonates

To share a fact that is true
Only you will be there for you
A fact often so ignored
Blinded by the fantasy of hope
A fact I have today embraced
So I am my own friend

''A lonely soul resonates'' you write, in your note, 'A poem written away from home'. I know that feeling..
