My Own Worse Enemy Poem by Jessie Marie Ray

My Own Worse Enemy

I have an enemy who won’t leave me alone
No matter what I do they are always there
No matter where I run no matter where I hide
They hurt me and cut me
They don’t let me sleep at night
They follow me to school and then back home
They are there even when I’m in the shower
I can’t escape this thing I can’t escape its grip
I can never get rid of them
I think they might kill me
Stealing my last breath from my lungs
Stopping my heart mid beat
Who is this person that stalks me in life?
It is me of course
I am my own worse enemy
