My Rehab By The Sea Poem by Karl Newton

My Rehab By The Sea

Butlins
Sweet innocent Butlins
My rehab by the sea
Just me
My demons
Noddy, Big Ears
And a messed up fantasy

Stripped of all my comforts
Away from home so young
I choose to leave the high
Simply fight or fly
Night after night
The tears I cried

The immediacy of pain
Passed by
The tears were soon ones of laughter
I did cry.

6 Months flew by
Skinny dipping and barbeques
The bowling green gate
Spending everyday off
On the funfair
And in the arcades
Nights drinking and smoking on the beach
Under the stars
A circle of friends
Noddy and Big ears included
Nights on the dance floor
Cheesy dance routines
Holiday romances
Starlight dances
Living in a bubble
Locked away from the world outside
Nothing but happiness and a 6 month holiday inside

Missed my family
I went a boy
Came back a man
Would love to do it all over again
