My Salvation Poem by Judy Meibach

My Salvation

Rating: 5.0

My poetry is my salvation
that releases me from my captors
the demons that have enslaved me
all of my life.

I am being freed
from the enemies
that have tortured me
all of my life.

I am reinventing myself,
a new person,
an independent one -
one who can assert herself.

My words tell you
who I am,
who I really am.
Not who I have
pretended to be (for you) .

They express something
that nobody has ever seen -
a person that you never knew
and are sorry that you did not get
to know sooner.
Someone who you held captive
to your wishes and needs
for so many years.

These words have come
to save me,
to lead me to my future,
my future of freedom.
