My Saviour In The River Poem by Rik Bertrand

My Saviour In The River

The reflective cover of the rivers surface, Denies my right of passage
A path is required to reach your soul, and the heart must be ever true.
There have been isolated times where you come into sight, into the light,
And when I glimpse your beauty, my life is renewed, it is always for you.

I have carried this secret for oh so long, and you have always been with me,
Whenever my life is blue, you make me understand and comfort my soul.
You rise up from the waters below, and you kiss my saddened face,
You brighten my way, give me a smile for a day, and put me in control.

I write as if I have seen you of late, but it's been a very long and lonely time,
For many years I have been away, and I have longed for you beautiful smile.
I am coming home from my warrior ways, to revisit my life's past.
I was hoping that you would visit with me, if only for a while.

Meet me at our rendezvous point where we always met before
Below the Bridges girders,50 meters out from the shore.
The rivers mostly quiet in the dawns early light, the currents not so bad,
I want to see you lovely face, and the black Fin I so adore.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
REB (2012) You kept me going when times were bad, you once said 'To some I am not, for they do not believe, open your mind to all possibilities and you will see the real world' I have never forgotten
