My Spouse Has Gone

Rating: 5.0

Disturbed in bed again I wake
The truth is close at hand
In tears my head begins to shake
It’s hard to understand

I’d turned to called my spouse’s name
But then I had to weep
The pillow there was just the same
As when I went to sleep

I’d sought my love to touch again
My hand began to slide
But then oh God the aching pain
The emptiness inside

Another day just like before
So empty cold and bare
I raised my eyes towards the door
Where last my love was there

How sad each time I’d cook a meal
Then eat it on my own
Oh God You know just how I feel
To sit here all alone

Oh why my God had we to part?
How deep is my despair
Please heal Your servant’s broken heart
Whilst here I kneel in prayer

Yet still I bless Your holy name
Although my love’s at rest
I know my God You’re not to blame
For You alone know best

I know my prayer has reached Your throne
I know You watch above
I know in You I’m not alone
I thank You for Your love.
