My Wee Rolly Boat Poem by Barney Rooney

My Wee Rolly Boat

Rating: 5.0

I’ve got a rolly boat
Colin Archer double ender
off the board of the bold John Leather
built to smile in every weather
my wee rolly boat

I’ve got a rolly boat
she snuggles to each wave
dips her bow and lifts her quarter
bobs about on any water
my wee rolly boat

I’ve got a rolly boat
she’s happy on the sea
mizzen tries to keep her steady
answers the tiller when she’s ready
my wee rolly boat

I’ve got a rolly boat
and its just right for me
to stay in port in breeze or gales
with any wind to fill her sails
she’s a braver boat than me

I’ve got a rolly boat
we’ve sailed to the Isle of Man
then left the quiet of Port St Mary
through Calf Sound was sort of scary
in my wee rolly boat

I’ve got a rolly boat
Fair Head is passed to port
tide was right so nought to dread
Ballycastle dead ahead
in my wee rolly boat

I’ve got a rolly boat
stayed there far too long
marinas don't have any heart
welcome wasn’t worth a fart
for my wee rolly boat

I’ve got a rolly boat
she sailed back up the Mersey
back at home you can feel
impatient twitching from her keel
hankering for a wee roll
