Mystery Of Democracy Poem by Donal Mahoney

Mystery Of Democracy

Am I right or am I right,
one neighbor asked the other
as they walked the few blocks
to vote in different primaries.

Some people make a good
living off other people barely
making a living off other
people not making a living.

We know there's something
wrong with that and every four
years we try to change it but
after four more years we find

some people make a good
living off other people barely
making a living off other
people not making a living.

Am I right or am I right,
one neighbor asked the other
as they walked home after
voting in different primaries.
