Nakoosi Poem by Tsani Jones

Nakoosi

Rating: 5.0

Staring blithely towards the ceiling
Daily inspecting the various
Intricate Rorschach designs
She lies in wait
With a permanent stare.

Her red bow, a fixture
And uniform from inception
Serving no other purpose
Than to prove she's been around,
All curled up on the ends like that.

Gentle warmth shall come
Late in the evening
After hours tick away
Even closer to total departure.
But the moment in a time called now.

Soft arms surround her
Within the midst of the black-
Limbs that belong to another,
One who is vacant
And oh, so distant.

It remains unknown, a secret,
How she hears that tremoring heart
Ache, beat, and break
Covered by the stillness
And the moonglow.

Wet with hot salt
That comes softly rolling
Onto her in early hours,
All that can be done in
Comfort, as she always has.

But in the meantime,
Nakoosi is thankful for
A tender embrace,
Because a loving caress is
So very crucial to survival.

One day the rightful owner
Of this cuddling safety net
Shall arrive to bring bliss,
And then, in sweet time,
She will enter the arms of another.
