Narcissus Poem by Charl JF Cilliers

Narcissus

With my own private spell
I conjure up a picture
of you, even before words
begin to define, to circumscribe

an image in a mirror,
you stare at me

a projection of myself

my invention, groomed
and dressed by my imagination

in the mirror our lips move
as we try to speak
to each other.
