Nathan Poem by Kathryn Garner

Nathan

its lies above the whisper
that i always hear myself say at night
trying to make the cold air feel warm
using his name
fabricating a pulse next to me
darling, i want to feel you breath

the words have their own voice
like a prayer screaming through my being
but its so deadly soft
like an oath, known to be broken
but it must be spoken

the words are what make me breath
a prayer, a love, a life
his name is the bud,
that kills the frost lingering in my whispher

i love you nathan
