Nature Poem by SUJATA VARMA

Nature

It was on a beautiful day in May
With my heart light and gay
That i went for an early morning walk
To have with nature a talk.

O! to see the sun just rising from the east
Was to my eyes indeed a feast
It rises each day to give us warmth
And symbolises the very life on earth.

The wind blew softly on my face
Whispering in my ears
To keep on moving ahead
Undaunted by the mountains of problems faced.

The green grass growing at my feet
Signified everything young and sweet
The birds flying gay and chirpy
Willed me to be always happy

And as i stood gazing at the wonders of nature
I thanked God in a flush of rapture
For this bountiful gift of his to man
Which he nothing but appreciate can.

And as i traced my steps back home
I realised that nature is indeed
Man's best teacher!
