Nature Poem by AKELLA S. RATNAM

Nature

NATURE

In the hall round the glass-topped table
Clinking of crystal glasses half-filled
Empty talk of wasted wealth and vested interests
Men and women deeply engrossed in conversations
Burping and belching, ha-ha and ya-ya.
Outside on branches, birds chirping
Exchange day's expeditions, cool comforts to the
Young in the nest. It's dinner time in flat
Old and young greedily devouring tinned food
Arguing losses and cheatings enhanced their
Financial worth; mental peace unknown happiness
defined in different ways society's elite enjoy(?)
Life impervious to Nature's joys.
