Needless Defamation Poem by Gautam Sen

Needless Defamation

Some confusions smoked, mystified my sky
Once what we're taught now voided, but why?
Planets are splendors so you get involved,
Mastery of Science is an art evolved.

Long before our life they're on motion,
From them we learnt about revolution.
Those prime players are silent on their job
We the real fools willfully hobnob.

Revelation of a great master plan -
A certain glory for earth's wisest clan;
But now what is on is not important
In the name of science you preach your chant.

Look! Our Pluto still revolving with smile
Demotion couldn't change planetary style,
Though I know not so called astronomy,
Dwarfing is still a sad dichotomy.

Graced with the bliss of Sun's divine spectrum
Planets spin so happy in Solar System –
Keeping on task for the large universe
Set on preset tracks destined to traverse.

[On August 24,2006, the International Astronomical Union (IAU) defined the term 'planet' for the first time. This definition excluded Pluto as a planet, and added it as a member of the new category 'dwarf planet' After the reclassification; Pluto was added to the list of minor planets and given the number 134340 A number of scientists continue to hold that Pluto should be classified as a planet. This poem is my reaction on this reclassification of Pluto.]
