Never Was Poem by Robin Rodriguez

Never Was

You'd never forget me
Well, I just saw
You did.

Now you want me
Back in your arms
Saying you can't live
Without me.

When Hell freezes
Then we'll talk.
Tell me when
Did you ever love me?

You want to know
How I truly feel,
Tell me, do you want
Me to lie to you?

I think you need a
Dose of reality;
I think you need
To face the truth.

You were playing me
False, you were
Never true.

You aren't sad
That I'm leaving;
You're just mad
That I can.

You're guilty of being
Nothing. Nothing but a poor liar.
How could I have stayed with you?
How did I not see?

Everything about you
Screams sleaziness,
And that is still too
Nice a word for you.

So, I'll just take back my life,
Because I can live
Without you here.

Why should I care?
Why should I cry
Over something
That never was?
