New Breed Poem by Lance Carthen

New Breed

To the distant minds its our time
No more lingering or wondering why
We kept reading the book but it made no sense
We even said amen after the preachers last sentence
But the feeling inside was so hollow
Wondering exactly who we must follow
Then the wondering turned into rage
When we realized we were trapped inside a cage
A cage with no door to hide the hate
Frozen with no emotion we wouldnt sedate
Had to let it all out just to feel alive
Anything to stop the shaking of being condemned to the beehive
Then one day our minds opened to sense
The reality that were are all we have felt so intense
Each word of rebellion was hard to swallow
Feeling guilty cause you couldnt follow
What the rest of the world did
So you had to let go
Its only a matter a time before your bomb explodes
