New Vistas Poem by Mihaela Pirjol

New Vistas

Rating: 5.0

My heart—a stranger to our love;
It does not recognise us anymore:
Our love—its devastation.

From sources unknown,
It has built itself a new dwelling:
The finest renovation!

I am new to myself.
I walk its corridors with an uncertain pace:
Marvelling at its labyrinths;

Day by day, discovering new vistas
Opening to the vast Unknown;
Welcoming a lost soul.

There are still old paintings of you
Hanging on its lustrous walls;
Seemingly fading behind me as I pass,

With a movement of a new verve,
And a peculiar curiosity; wondering about what else
Is to be revealed.

Sometimes I pause, and I linger a little longer
Before a painting, where apparently,
The master artist's hand of love,
Artistically has immortalised your visage:

I take my time…I delight in its beauty
With half a smile, but—no consternation.
I have yet to discover, the fascinating miracle
Of this new heart of mine.

'My heart — a stranger to our love; It does not recognise us anymore. Our love — its devastation.' awed by this turn of phrase, loved turned devastation; so many good lines 'I am new to myself. I walk its corridors with an uncertain pace; Marvelling at its labyrinths.' the old personality tied inextricably into another couple life lost in sudden alone isolation 'There are still old paintings of you Hanging on its lustrous walls; Seemingly fading behind me as I pass, ' colours draining with each step 'Sometimes I pause, and I linger a little longer Before a painting, where apparently, The master artist's hand of love, Artistically has immortalised your visage.' beauty eternal in a moment fleeting captured immortalised in the master artist's hand is painfully denied to flesh mind our fleet lives 'With half a smile, but — no consternation. I have yet to discover, the fascinating miracle Of this new heart of mine.' herein lies hope, we shed past skins, grow into new bodies of reality
