New years day has jus begun
As a chaotic year departs
Sitting here impatiently
To witness your life start

Stayed awake for 2 days straight
On the maternity ward
So I don't miss the chance
To cut your birthing cord

My minds a little hazy
I'm tired and slightly worn
Suddenly overwhelmed with joy
The second you were born

You glanced at me through half shut eyes
As if to Pierce my sole
Filled my heart with so much love
For one just moments old

So innocent and fragile
Came 4 weeks premature
Born into a reality
Of a world your still unsure

Its the 1st day of a new year
1st day of your life to
Our family is now complete
Now that we have you
