Next Girl Poem by Sarah Holmes

Next Girl

I hope I never meet,
The next girl in his life.
She may be the one,
Who won’t win the fight.

I don’t want to tell her,
What is in store.
What will go on,
Behind closed doors.

He will make her feel special,
With just one line.
He will change though,
All it takes is time.

When we argued,
He wouldn’t just shout.
He’d grip me tight,
So I couldn’t get out.

Bedroom activities,
Were on demand.
Because “no” was a word,
He didn’t understand.

I knew I had to leave,
I could not stay.
I won the fight,
She may not get away.

He does a great act,
But it’s all pretend.
Hopefully she’ll realise.
And bring things to an end.
