Night Descends Poem by Thomas Stearn

Night Descends

Rating: 5.0

Night descends in the eyes of a ghost
In the shadows of the secret veil,
Mist casts a blanket in arms of a horde
On the plains of the golden kingdom.

A panther that trembles in the forest
Seeking shelter from the terrors of the night,
Lay fear for the spirits of the angels
In the heavens of the holy light.

Silver moonlight and starlit clusters
Bring calm to the lambs of Avalon,
Who graze and sleep in the wheat fields
In the valley of the fallen kings.

A new day in tranquil light
Brings stillness on the red plains,
Of wandering spirits from the eve before,
Ghosts of the lost guards of the night.

An isle of sapphire water sparkling,
Deep waters of crystal rain.
Droplets of tears falling like pebbles
In ripple waters on the shimmering surface.

O thou, courageous soul of the night,
Your rest begins in day anew, in peace.
For now thou sleep until called upon,
Inner soul of the last guard of the realm.
