Nightmare
Running, crying, screaming, dying,
as you cower you think its alright.
you've escaped the haunting memories.
Rustle in the shadows, you're off like a shot
Guess they're better hunters then you thought.
Sobs rack your body as you flee,
you stifle them -barely- as you hide.
If you let them catch you, they'll flay your mind.
You run, you hide, throw your body to the side
as you try to escape this violent Nightmare that is your reality...
This maze of chains and blades.
You crack your skull, think your dead
as sight fades away like the darkness giving way
to light caught glimmering on the dancing beads of sweat
that glisten and tremble as you wake with a shudder, beginning to remember what you fear and why you run.

A Dream Within A Dream
Edgar Allan Poe
Adam, keep writing, for you are indeed a poet. The images here are strong, but you mustn't get so attached to them that you forget spelling and grammar. ('you're' rather than your'. The second line used the word 'alright' and I'd like to see you think of a stronger word. ('safe', 'home free'?) Or perhaps you can think of something that means more than 'alright.' Those are just suggestions. Keep searching your poems to make sure you've used the strongest words for the meaning you want. Good luck!

Adam...good show of pain and internal wrestling...that does not hide from it's truth...~
I really liked the intensity of this poem. Nice work Adam. Sincerely, Mary
