ninety six degrees Fahrenheit
one hundred and two in the sun
in the midst of this melting and sweltering
an uncaring cold hovers above
I used to sweat these goosebumps off my arms
like it was nothing
The weather, especially hot gets to us eventually. Alison and I both come from Down Under and it was a wickedly hot Summer. My watch and my shoes fell to pieces from the heat. I like your style of writing and your last line. Karin Anderson
This is an interesting reflection, Lee. Methinks the 'goose bumps' might be caused by something other than the weather. You certainly leave this reading wondering and imagining..... As an addendum, it is interesting to hear temperature expressed in Fahrenheit terminology - and much more romantic, too. We had three days of 45 degrees celsius in Melbourne last February. That was as hot as I have experienced in my nearly 64 years. Great poem. Love, Allie x x x x
