No Consolation Really

The jobs of cops
planted to catch near their homes
drivers who have forgotten to renew
their registration, the papers for which
are sent a month in advance
in a pretty-nondescript, windowed,
grey envelope of recycled paper
from the Department of Planning,
Transport and Infrastructure;

by universal coverage by street cameras,
the jobs of cops,
planted to administer a very steep fine,
will be put on the line.
