'No E-G-O' Poem by NiQi Deveaux

'No E-G-O'

Rating: 5.0

I'm patiently awaiting
For those words to fall upon
My ears perked, so tensely listening
For your mind to hear the call

Of our spirits as they mingle
Shedding eons of star dust
I'd say I only 'want' it
But really, it's become, a longing 'must'

I know you said it once or twice
And it rang me like a bell
But a passion missing, notes off key
I didn't say, but I could tell

Withdraw them then, my dear sweetheart
And search a little more
Life's busy for you, fine, I'll wait
Cause I know what is in store

As I linger in the valleys
And climb the highest peaks
And soaring in the clouds so high
From your kiss planted, on my cheek

It grows into a vine that winds
Whispering a promise that's so true
When it rides and sails upon your breath
I will be the richest, truest of blues

A golden lining tracing all my shape
Cause silver's so passe
I'll bubble over, creating rivers
For it to carry me away

Winding to a crisp blue ocean
A dot of land, barely in view
Not one single other spirit there
Oh wait.... There is... It's you

In a foreign land so blossoming
A new freshness in the air
With colors no one's ever seen
I know, you'll be waiting there

You may be lagging as I saunter
But, when your eyes finally see
You'll leap ahead and rest your heart
Realizing, too, now you are free

Your head rested in your hands you've clasped
Like a pillow, relaxed, eyes closed
With a devilish grin across your face
Knowing, rightfully, you chose

Cause you sift and sort through feelings
Not just flying on a whim
Considering what you have to give
Respectful, proper, primed and prim

With legs stretched out so lazily
Crossed ankles, with bare feet
On sandy shores we've built,
Grain by grain, for wandering souls to meet

An Island we're carving out right now
With how we talk, and we confess
Every fear, and dream, concern and more
It comes openly, free, not pressed

Were so candid, honest and caring
Of each others every need
Meeting desires, in time, no hurry, no rush
And no such thing as greed

Cause we both know that it's poison
And we really can't afford
To lose this wonderful thing we've found
Egos dropped, lifeless on the floor
