No Last Goodbye Poem by Jon M. Nelson

No Last Goodbye

He got on the bus and he left town
He went down the road without turning around.
He didn’t want her to see him cry
She let him go without saying goodbye,
He wasn’t coming back this way again.
They drifted apart, as time went on.
Until the day he was finally gone.
They still had their love but it wasn’t enough
And being apart was going to be tough.
But they promised they would remain friends.
It tore him apart to leave her behind
She said to him she’ll be fine.
She said she’d always be by his side,
And that she still loves him deep inside.
But for some reason he couldn’t help but doubt.
When they had met it was love at first sight
And everything between them just felt so right.
But as time went on they seemed to drift apart
But they held a special place deep in each other’s heart.
They were just too different to work their problems out.
