No One But You Poem by Leria Hawkins

No One But You

No one else has tasted as much
My lips, my song, my poetry
No one has touched the fire
Or unearthed my hidden passions
No one, has torn my chest asunder
To drink from the chalice of my heart
No one but you, my love…no one

No one else has lived and died in my soul
Resurrected again and again with renewed vigor
No one has taken me to the skies
Given me wings to fly, my passion soaring
No one has explored my deepest shadows
Setting flame to the trove of my secret desires
No one but you, my love…no one

No other man has killed me as softly
Or breathed life into my tortured soul
No one has conjured magic spells
Or plied me with whispers to hex my dreams
No one else has turned my steel to fluff
Leaving me exposed, exasperated by my own weakness
No one but you, my love…no one

No one has burned me as deeply
Or crawled into my wounds, littering salt in the cuts of my despair
No one else has lifted me to the heavens
Just to watch me fall from the highest cliff
No one has whispered of such great love and passion
Only to deny me the rhythm of their soul
No one but you, my love, no one

No one knows the scorch of my fury
Or the deafening scream of my silence
No one has so greedily tasted my essence
Then reveled in the brine of my tears
No one know my ups, my downs
Or the hot and cold of my passion
No one but you, my love, no one

I've searched to understand this mania
This inability to reason with my foolish heart
So many times, I've turned away from the flame
Only to find it bright and well in the depths of my soul
No one else has carried me to this place of no return
Spurning my half-hearted attempts at escape
No one, my love…no one

It's really very simple, no one owns me like you do
No other man has truly made house in my soul
Then nailed me to the stake quite like you
No other has so carefully patched my fragile ego
All while picking me apart
No other has driven me on a decade long ride
Just to abandon me along a broken highway

I have screamed into the shadows, dear
Vomited stains as black as night
Trying to purge the taste of you from my lips
I have wept…I have worried…I have despaired
My heart has tumbled into deep dark places
Where I am unable to find my way
No one has refused my undying love, my unwavering devotion

No one, my love, no one….
But you.
