No One Knows What We Know Poem by Leah Ayliffe

No One Knows What We Know

No one knows what we know
Happy and in control of how we get on.
No one understand the life we lead
Best friends until the end
Fooling around like a light breeze.
Chasing dreams, adventures, looking for the next high
It's better for me when we're together
But on our own we do just fine.
I laugh at your stories of being on the prowl
Support your missions of finding another girl to take down.
You listen to my crazy ways of falling for a drunkard's charm,
It may not be so nice, but hey we find ways to get along.
That's what we do, we carry on.
Miles apart, you're still the closest to my heart
My number one who always hears my quietest song.
We like our freedom to be whoever we are
Tastes like independence, just like the 4th of July.
Sounds like fireworks, loud and bright in navy blue skies.
He is the sun to my moon, a type of man I never thought I'd get to know
Rare to find like treasure lost in the ocean below.
I'm something like a diamond in the rough shining through the dust in his life.
What a special kind of friendship I am in love with until forever comes,
Until the fuel runs out and the miracle falls with the setting sun.
I'll do my best to be me and figure out exactly who that is
He learns to love himself and shed the skin of insecurity.
Going about the world forgetting about time and space
Living just how I always envisioned my life in this human race
And it's the closest thing to real happiness I have yet to know
And together with this strange thing that no one understands,
I know in my heart like two trees strong and majestic and good,
side by side in the same forest of dreams, we will continue to grow.
