Juan del Encina

(1468-1529 / Spain)

No te tardes que me muero

No te tardes que me muero,
carcelero,
no te tardes que me muero.

Apresura tu venida
porque no pierda la vida,
que la fe no está perdida,
carcelero,
no te tardes que me muero.

Bien sabes que la tardança
trae gran desconfiança;
ven y cumple mi esperança,
carcelero,
no te tardes que me muero.

Sácame desta cadena,
que recibo muy gran pena,
pues tu tardar me condena.
Carcelero,
no te tardes que me muero.

La primer vez que me viste
sin te vencer me venciste;
suéltame, pues me prendiste.
Carcelero,
no te tardes que me muero.

La llave para soltarme
ha de ser galardonarme,
proponiendo no olvidarme.
Carcelero,
no te tardes que me muero.

Fin

Y siempre cuanto vivieres
haré lo que tú quisieres
si merced hacerme quieres.
Carcelero,
no te tardes que me muero.
