Nobody Poem by Kevin Averett

Nobody

Rating: 5.0

Nobody thought of you today...
Nobody truly cared
if the meal that sits before you
was consumed alone, or shared.

Nobody wants to visit
when your heart aches for a friend,
Nobody's felt the emptiness
that loneliness can't mend.

Nobody hoped you'd have the time
to knock upon his door
just to give a word of comfort....
lift his chin up off the floor.

Nobody hugged his pillow
when he went to bed last night
because the thought of violations
of ex-wives filled him with fright.

Nobody found those memories fresh,
though many years have passed.
Nobody thinks 20 years more
not knowing love is vast.

Nobody tried in vain today
to give-in to the whim
to make the trip to see you
though you NEVER visit him.....
Nobody was a fool to think
that you would find a way
to make him feel more valued
than he was feeling yesterday.

Fifty five years are forever
when you look so hard to be
just accepted by your peers, although
to THEM, I'm 'Nobody'.....

Incredibly moving. Even not knowing the situation I think we could all gain something from your words, just through acceptance.
