Noon Poem by William Kofoed

Noon

I walk wandering and wondering

There is so much I do not know

And much I fear that I will never know

Yet I wander in the light of the sun

And its light reveals all to me

I must but look and see

All there is before me to see

Clear in the light of the sun

All around others also walk

Cursing the darkness they are in

Unable to see and to know

Saying that there is no light

That one cannot see and know

Sometimes they see a little light

Sometimes feel the warm of the light

And they believe that is all

No more than a little to have and know

Lost in darkness under the noon sun

Unable to see its light and know its warmth

I walk among them not understanding

The light beats upon me always

Showing me clearly all that there is

Always in its warmth unfailing

How can they not see

How do they not feel

How can they not see the light

How can they be so blind

And why oh why am I not
