As I awoke I felt a chill in the air
The north wind raged blowing without a care
As the sky darkened I knew it would be soon
The sun now shone like a dim August moon
I shut tight all the windows
Stoking the fire as the North Wind blows
The storm now upon us as the rains fall heavy
The river rises quickly flooding over the levee
On high ground I sit flooded in from the rain
The cabin fever sets in I try not to go insane
A week has gone by no end yet to the storm
Provisions running low even on wood that keeps us warm
Ten days of rain and the storm rages on
I pray to the heavens for it just to be gone
A passage fourteen days and the storm comes to an end
The sun peeks through the clouds as the rays soon descend
As the North Wind calms the sky it turns to blue
Sunny days once again if only for a few
