Northern lights
A natural phenomenon
Is extremely delightful
And wonderful to see.
Solar wind interacts
With earth's gases
And magnetic pole.
To create the glow.
A random occurrence
No one knows
When it comes
Or when it goes.
A night's adventure
In Iceland tour
We made an immense effort
To find those lights.
Just about midnight
In early October
Busloads of tourists
Gathered in the open.
Away from the town
Light pollution none
A clear sky above
Things looked favorable.
We looked up toward north
With great hope inside
In pitch darkness
And biting cold.
After an hour or so
A cloudy streak seemed
To appear above the horizon
Like a faint ray of hope.
Crowd appeared satisfied
With a sense of relief
To retire for the night
And have some sleep.
