Nostalgia Again Poem by Francis Duggan

Nostalgia Again

Nostalgia again it takes us to the past
The good days we had though those times did not last
By the fire-place at night the old people sung
Of the times that had changed since the days we were young,
On looking back they could see the changes as we do today
And the times keep on changing as always they say
The Winters were wet and cold but birds whistled in May
And the swallows were back from places far away,
Happy memories of childhood are ours to enjoy
In the leafy groves and hedgerows of old Lisnaboy
Birds sang all day long in sunshine and rain
The past may be gone but the memories remain
Of when we were young many decades ago
Though the times they have changed from the life we did know.
