Nostalgia - Translation Poem Of Tế Hanh: Vu Vơ

Rating: 3.8

During my no-school days, I usually came to a train station
To wait for coming and leaving trains
I stood alone to watch people separating
I felt nostalgic watching their separation
I felt sorry for many trains
That in their thousand lives still not having enough strength to move fast
There seemed to be something stressful in the noises from their engines
Train cars seemed to carry heavy loads of misery
Creaking noises of wheels that couldn't go fast
Billows of smokes seemed to be choked by pain
At times, train sirens hooted insistently:
Souls of leaving people screamed for those who were returning home.
Those who returned home walked quietly in shadows of sadness
Their mourning spread several miles long
Following from behind, I traced their steps
My melancholy spread in all directions.

Above is translation poem of the Vietnamese poem of TẾ HANH:

VU VƠ

Những ngày nghỉ học tôi hay tới
Đón chuyến tàu đi, đến những ga
Tôi đứng bơ vơ xem tiễn biệt
Lòng buồn đau xót nỗi chia xa
Tôi thấy tôi thương những chiếc tàu
Ngàn đời không đủ sức đi mau
Có chi vướng víu trong hơi máy
Mấy chiếc toa nặng đầy khổ đau
Bánh nghiến lăn lăn quá nặng nề,
Khói phì như nghẹn nỗi đau tê,
Lâu lâu còi rúc nghe rền rĩ:
Lòng của người đi réo kẻ về.
Kẻ về không nói bước vương vương
Thương nhớ lan xa mấy dặm trường
Lẽo đẽo tôi theo về bước họ,
Tâm hồn ngơ ngẩn nhớ muôn phương.
