Notes Of A Dead Poet Poem by A A Umar Udubo

Notes Of A Dead Poet

Rating: 5.0

When you
Long for me (when I am not by your side)
Stretch your sight
To the blank pages of night(I belong to the shades of night)
And, to the silent corners of solitude(for solitude I embrace without you, darling)
Relax your ribs.
When you
Long for our rambling
Open the sacred chapter of your sweet heart
Feel your holy fingers across the itchy traces of my print.
When you
Long for the pleasure
And warmth
My sliding tears across the landscape of your maiden face
Through the windowpane send your soul
Through the celestial skies, let it drop
Bit by bit like the gentle downpour on our honeymoon.
But
When you long for me through and through
(Darling)you must feel what to do:
Like night's somber feathers springing
From edges of waning evening face
Let the red-blackness atop your brow drop
Upon your eyes
Slip through the delicate fortress
Between us and (down here)
Come to me
Darling (come to me)my horse is yours, the distance is near
Ride with me through the thick forest of laughter and cries
That's eternity.
