Nothing Poem by Marcquiese Burrell

Nothing

I could never understand it or even try to comprehend
all that goes around me, don't know what's happening
I don't think you've heard me, You need to listen
you act like you going get it, are you an idiot?
to begin, Doesn't matter if you weren't carrying
like I haven't heard about you, being infected
sorry, I'm really not that easy, just accept it
i didn't do you, so now, you feeling rejected
talking about, you know my type, you too stuck up
have you heard yourself you must be drinking
I know of my self-worth so just let that sink in
who are you to tell me, I'm being selfish
when you know by now, I stay too polished
So, Do I need to break it down for you again?
what am I not to have my own opinion?
it's easier for you to lay with many
and get all the glory
you don't think i'm friendly
well, that's another story
yea, kecey, is human
and you're assuming
that because you didn't get it, that i'm too arrogant
you can choose to look at me and feel the way you feel
i'm keeping it one hundred. baby, i'm keeping it real
look at what you're being
you're too gone to agree and
You said you'll sex me, come again?

I was raised and taught to watch out
people ain't genuine they're all about
nothing, nothing, nothing
nothing, nothing, nothing

this is dedicated to the people whose mentality is preversed
more concerned with the appeal of ones complexion, you have been coerced
to believe anything light-skinned is better, when we are all equal
you don't care who you offend listen to yourself people
there's more concerning issues like why men lay with women
have a child, claim they ain't the father, are you kidding?
you really can't deny, how you fed that kitten
you can't call yourself a man look at how you living
Then you catch an attitude when she's independent
look at the big message the woman are sending
she doing something for herself, you sit back, hating
while you lay around, your hands out ready and waiting
for half a percentage, she owes you nothing
you should be disgusted, giving the excuse you applied yourself

life had taught her to watch out
you ain't genuine and you're about
nothing, nothing, nothing
nothing, nothing, nothing
