Nothing Less Than You Poem by James Lewis

Nothing Less Than You

Put your hand in mine my love let's sit and gaze the stars, the future's right in front of us to gauge and it is ours,

I understand you're middlesplit as far as what to do, I don't deserve to make suggestions, still that's what I'll do.

Let's take a journey shall we back to 06 of 09, that 27th day we both decided to defy,

The odds which stacked against us like a mountain really thick, it's difficult to last when love's as hard as City Brick.

We're 80s babies crazy both us born in sev'nty five, I knew right off the bat that you had dated plenty guys,

Who did you very dirtily, they're demons in the mist, I promised not to hurt you now just add me to the list,

Of undacova brothas perpetratin tellin lies, but now I speak the truth look deep inside MY yellow eyes,

They both convey the hurt from all the heartache I have caused, I never meant for us to be this way but now let's pause,

The both of us, let's think about the issues we have faced, from me not being social to your boy all in our place,

From I and non assertion to you holding out on sex, we've run the gambit problem-wise but I don't recollect,

You doing anything that made me cause such hurt and pain, a 2nd chance I ask I SWEAR you'll NEVER hurt again,

I plan to spend remaining years just showin you whasup, I'll prove it with my actions not that verbalizing stuff.

My love for you runs deep like all the oceans on this earth, it'll always be this way and it's been like that since its' birth,

A love conceived by fire take me higher yes it does, and baby I believe that we can make it what it was.

To earn your trust again I'll have to walk the greenest mile, but see I'll do it twice if that'll put you by my side,

Cause that's where you're supposed to be and nothing less'll do, I can't go back to living life with nothing less than you.
