Nothing To Write About Poem by Richard Harkey

Nothing To Write About

Nothing to write about
on a pleasant spring evening
no soaring words
and melodious phrases
to describe
the soft sweetness of
the breeze that comes and goes
no language available to impart
the beauty and gentleness
of the twilight
and the richness of the blue
deep and dark
one of the most beautiful colors
in nature
no mellifluous syllables
to string together
to capture the redolence
of honeysuckle in bloom
to impart the placidity and
absence of the intrusive sounds
of civilization
completely bereft of big words
that capture the essence
of the tinnabulation
of the chimes
the metal orchestra
with the wind as conductor
no epiphanies, no eloquence
to evince the liberating nature
of the season
when bulky fabrics
are tossed aside with no fear
of dropping mercury and icy chills
the freedom that comes from knowing
that you can stay out all night
to fellowship with the moon and stars
No!
Nothing to write about at all.
