Nothing Worthwhile Poem by Sadiqullah Khan

Nothing Worthwhile

Your endless citations, every leaf
A paper, pearls of wisdom ‘treasures
In ruins’, all in an evening’s circle.

Heads on legs some, flying others with birds,
Frolicking with untamed antelopes. Some
Playing with wolves. Others thirsty in oceans.

There is no solace, no reason, and all belief,
With fear, suspend disbelief,
There is nothing worthwhile, existence is void.

-After reading my poem ‘Go There’ and seeing image of an Afghan refugee girl.
