November In Rhyll Poem by Francis Duggan

November In Rhyll

Rating: 2.0

The silver gulls are mewing on the mudflats on a humid afternoon of thundery showers
And on the Nature strip the wind is stirring the golden and bright red astertion flowers
It is the last day of Spring and November and sunny summer nears the southern shore
And Mother Nature outlives another Season the one who will live on for forever more.

It is a quiet sunday in Rhyll in Victoria the day trippers by the weather kept away
A quiet time of year for the sea side village before the busy Christmas holiday
The bottle brushes in the parkland blooming so beautiful in flowers of pink and red
And what can one say of Nature's natural beauty that by another has not been already said.

I hear the distinctive song of the common myna he pipes in the rain on low branch of gum tree
And diners on the verandah of the cafe enjoy their afternoon cake and coffee,
The sooty oystercatchers o'er the mudflats they give their pleasant whistles as they fly
And gentle waves on the shore are lapping and rain clouds gathering in the coastal sky.

The last day of Spring in Rhyll on Phillip Island between the showers there's brief bouts of sunshine
And on the verandah of the B Y O cafe the diners wash down their desserts with coffee and wine
And Mother Nature has outlived another Season she farewells Spring with thundery showers of rain
And on the last day of February she will farewell the Summer and on March the first welcome Autumn again.
