You have to try
to remember
that everyone
at all times
is trying to depict
their best self
you keep saying
that you wish
you knew then
what you know now
the truth is you did
however,
you were so busy
trying to get to now
this made you
un-accepting of then.
You refused to climb
those steps correctly
and now in hindsight
you appear to be
amazed
that now you can see
how naive and how
much of a pity
your were then
you cannot be two
places
all at the same time
the kid that you
were then
is not the adult
you are now?
but someway,
somehow
you are combining
them
to comfort your past
and your present
this is usually
a bad sign
nevertheless,
one that can be
easily corrected
by being, your
best you
