O Faded Rose Poem by Eric Zerr

O Faded Rose

Rating: 5.0

O faded rose,
why dost thou wilt?
Thy glass in which
Thine water spilt
Was meant for only me.

The shards left on thy petals
Amongst the leaves of green
Speak of love’s unrest
Of an end that is unseen

But you have never known
A love so bright and true
That shines through all the darkness
That is meant for only you

Press on! Press on!
Your love will come at last
And dance among the flowers
That hold their colors fast

Your flower will continue
To hold its color true
‘Till there will be no sorrow
And I will come for you

Then, my lovely petal
I will want no more
My tears will cease to fall
And scatter on the floor

Love unknown cannot hold
The swelling of your bloom
It cannot cease to listen
As I walk into the room

Then sweet, my love will shine
Like dew from early morn
My heart, it will awaken
No longer sad and torn
