Oasis Poem by Jeffrey Stultz

Oasis

Your smile refreshes my soul
like cold water on a dusty desert day;
your presence is as soft and pleasant
as waking from wondrous dreams
in a goose down bed.

There is laughter in your eyes,
which springs pure and clean,
like water from an artesian well,
from a joyful heart.

There is always a hint of mischief
about you, but never of harm;
Do you ever worry?
When you are thirsty, who fills your cup?
You give and give and bring such joy,
does the well ever run dry?

It seems foolish to ask the well,
if it ever gets thirsty,
but my thankful heart
can do no less;
having known the
gloom quenching joy
of your smile
