Obscenity In Pennsylvania Poem by Raj Dronamraju

Obscenity In Pennsylvania

Rating: 4.5

A visit to the Amish country for technology free tourism
Stopped at an open air market to get something to eat
As we bought soft pretzels and lemonade, saw an old man work his way though the crowd
He was wizened and small and wore a woolen cap, looked like a sailor
He kid of hopped when he walked and spoke to everyone who entered the market
His greeting was "F You" delivered in a direct tone of voice as if he was saying ‘welcome to Amish country"
Once he said this, he moved onto the next person to tell them the same thing
He only changed what he was saying by adding in the occasional "hey" for those who didn't seem to be paying enough attention
"F You, f You, hey f you"
No one showed any anger at this, this was what is known as local color
When it was our turn, we took this benediction as part of our visit, part of the experience
His blessing contained no hostility, just a crusty old coot on a brisk windy April day
